SAM & ED

In June of 2005, CIVITAS asked "how can Science, Art, Manufacturing, Engineering & Design be linked to stimulate economic growth in NWPA?" After three large group meetings of attorneys, artists, designers, engineers, manufacturers and politicians, at the Erie Art Museum Annex on June 21, July 12 and Sept. 23 a core group was charged with the responsibility of drafting a vision statement, a mission statement, goals and an organizational structure. Bob Smith, Erie Plastics / John Elliot, City of Erie Redevelopment Authority / Dave Bennett, Flexcut Tools, / Jean-Marc Baier, Dafmark Dance Theater / and Lisa Austin, Civitas compose SAM & ED's steering committee. SAM & ED is no longer a CIVITAS-sponsored project, but has grown into a loose-knit, community-based economic development "organization."
